We are nearing the end of another unit in Alex et Zoé. We have had lots of practice with our days of the week and are now practicing time--telling time on the hour and then adding minutes. We had fun watching some of the Canadian circus group Cirque du Soleil before the circus rep last week. Coming up as our last unit of vocabulary will be body parts--lots of fun activities there!

What a day of eating we had today--we enjoyed our petit déjeuner and had our fill of croissants, tartines and various condiments! Here are some photos of our hearty appetites. We have spent a lot of time working with our days of the week, practicing our poem Bal du Samedi (see Our Assignments link below) and playing games that involve rushing to put the days in the right order and jumping on flashcards as I call out names of the days of the week. Next, we begin to explore telling time in French; we are making our own clocks to help us practice.

Our breakfast unit has come to a close, though we still have our petit déjeuner next week. Today we launch into our new unit with Alex and Zoé--days of the week and time! Students will be memorizing a short poem, Bal du Samedi, a traditional children's poem for the days of the week; scroll down to the Our Assignments link to read the poem and hear a recording. Ask your child to sing the song we have to help us remember the days of the week--can you
recognize the tune?!

These past few weeks have been very busy for us in fourth grade! Our unit on breakfast vocabulary is nearing an end; we had a wonderful performance in rep this past Thursday by students who performed a song we had learned to help us practice these words. Luckily the tune was familiar--Frère Jacques! We will finish this unit after vacation and our breakfast will take place on Wednesday, 30 April. Bonnes vacances à tous!
